Indie Film Series 101 with the experts

February 27, 2016

Meca Cole of Story Time Films is a true visionary among the up and comers in the TV and Film Industry. Her production credits include working with R&B Icons Faith Evans and Missy Elliot to Hip Hop Artists Rae Sremmurd, 2 Chainz and Future, to name a few.

US: Thank you for taking a minute to chat with us about all of the projects you are working on. Before we get into all of them, where did you get your start?

MC: It's my pleasure, thank you for the opportunity. I attended Film school specializing in Directing and from there I interned with several very respected, high-end production companies in Atlanta, GA.

US: Working with one of the best directors in Atlanta, do you think you set the bar higher on your projects as opposed to someone just starting out?

MC: Absolutely, I was trained by some of the best Directors, Producers, Videographers and Editors in the Entertainment Industry and because of such training the bar is set to the highest standard which means I can not produce mediocre productions.

US: You are the true definition of a Renaissance woman you write scripts/treatments, produce, direct, edit and book talent. How are you able to balance wearing all of these hats?

MC: Honestly, it can get overwhelming at times but I have created a system and I never overbook myself. I also take time off and literally disconnect myself from production completely so I can clear my mind and come back refreshed.

US: Not too long ago you put out a sizzle reel for Background, you have some stellar actors involved, how is it coming along?

MC: BACKGROUND is an amazing TV series and my Actors are incredibly talented. We are filming the Pilot in May and I can’t wait for the world to see it. They’re going to absolutely love it.

US: How important are business relationships in a booming market like Atlanta, that seems so big but so small when it comes to your reputation.

MC: Atlanta is the New Hollywood, which is exciting for filmmakers. However, most indie filmmakers who have not had the opportunity to work with Hollywood professionals may lack the key tips to building relationships and not burning bridges, in an industry that seems large. Because in al actuality it is not large at all, its very small and building a professional reputation is the key to success in this industry.

US: Atlanta has been crowned the new Hollywood, do you find that to be true?

MC: Atlanta is definitely the New Hollywood. There are many Motion Picture Movies being filmed here due to the tax incentive and the dozens of new movie studios and reality shows. I would advise any aspiring filmmaker to sign up for The Indie Film workshop, get the proper book and hands-on training and dive into the Atlanta film industry asap because it is definitely the new Hollywood.

US: As a result of your connections, Story Time Films will be hosting the Indie Series 101 Workshop partnering with the Television Production Guru. Can you tell us how your concept turned into an event with a major partner signing on to consult with members of the audience.

MC: Yes, The Indie Film 101 workshop is going to be epic.  I have been named The Television Production Guru by respected professionals and it’s an honor. I then took that title and put together the concept, to bring the indie film community together and share the key success tips that myself and my three indie speakers learned in the our careers of being successful filmmakers.

US: Where can people go that are interested in attending register for this event?

MC: Everyone can purchase their tickets on Eventbrite.com then search for “The Indie Film 101” but hurry because seats are limited. Also, I have an exclusive training program that I am only offering to those who attend the workshop. So being in the house is a huge benefit for those attending.

US: It seems like it is important for you to give back on your way to the top, why is this so important for you?

MC: For me giving back is sharing my training tips and opening the door to filmmakers who are hungry and who will invest in their craft. I am only interested in helping those who will do whatever it takes for them to be successful because that was and still is my mentality. Only the strong survives in this industry.

US: If someone is interested in working with you on their next project how can they connect with you?

MC: I am pretty transparent for the most part on my social media pages and will respond to direct messages regarding production. My social media pages are FB: Meca Cole, IG: @theofficialfilmdiva. I can also be reached on my website www.storytimefilms.net by leaving email or filling out the Contact

US section.

The Band of Brothers Coming to a City Near You, As Seen on @BASSofBoston

February 16, 2016

The Band of Brothers is comprised of four highly talented brothers. Andre “MoDre” Brown (Bass), Jerome “Jslim” Monroe Jr (Keyboards), Sharod “Mister virtuoso” Allen (Guitar) and Jordan “Jhemby” Hemby (Drums).  This type of unity and harmony is what is needed in the cutthroat world of the music industry.  Bands are no longer viewed as an accessory in the background, they bring so much more to the table and bring the entire show to life: visually, aesthetically and of course musically. The mood and tone of a concert is set by the first note and with the Band of Brothers it is always kicked off on a high note.

Erick Walls, Music To Our Ears...As Seen @BASSofBoston

February 01, 2016

The grind never stops for those in the music business from recording in the studio to gracing the stages on world tours. The key ingredient to moving from concept to the final work of art is the behind the scenes effort of musicians, songwriters, vocal producers and so many more. A seasoned vet whose resume boasts the POTUS,  the Queen of Hip Hop and R & B, Ledisi and being a member of house bands airing on BET, is none other than guitarist extraordinaire Erick Walls. You won't hear him listing off his credits and accolades but you will see him everywhere playing for everybody, grooving behind his guitar and signature black shades.

Emily King Wraps Up "The Switch Tour" As Seen @BASSofBoston

February 20, 2016

Emily King’s “The Switch Tour” kicks off this February with performances in Seattle, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Salt Lake City, to name a few. The Switch, is one of the lead singles and title of her recent LP off of Making Music Records. Her sound is captively deceiving as a light, sweet voice is heard but the lyrics are anthems to lessons learned on this journey called life. Emily is not new to the world of R&B/Soul with over a decade of making waves on motion picture soundtracks to stages around the world. Emily King is here to stay.
